Description

The Gospel has gone outward, communities have been established, and disciples throughout the Roman world are learning to live under the reign of the risen Messiah. The question now becomes: What kind of people must they become?

A Discipleship Journey Through the Apostolic Writings and the Ekklesia explores the writings that call the New Covenant community toward maturity, faithfulness, holiness, love, perseverance, and endurance.

Hebrews points readers toward the Messiah as High Priest and mediator of the New Covenant. James calls disciples to become doers of the Word and to walk in the perfect law of liberty. Peter teaches scattered believers how to remain faithful through suffering. John brings love, truth, obedience, fellowship, and confidence together within the life of Yahweh’s people. Jude warns the community to contend faithfully for the Faith in the face of corruption and deception.

Throughout these writings, the ekklesia is never treated merely as a place people attend. It is a people being formed into a functioning body under the risen Messiah. Every member is called toward maturity, responsibility, service, perseverance, and participation in the shared life of the covenant community.

The workbook invites readers to examine what leadership, fellowship, correction, endurance, holiness, love, discernment, and mutual responsibility are meant to look like when they are actually lived together.

The apostolic writings also contain serious warnings. Faithfulness cannot be assumed merely because someone once began the journey. Disciples are repeatedly called to endure, hold fast, remain watchful, resist deception, and continue toward the promised inheritance. The story is moving toward its final conflict and fulfillment.

The ekklesia has been formed. The question is whether Yahweh’s people will remain faithful until the King returns.
