Description
Every story has a beginning, and nearly every major theme in Scripture has roots in the Torah. Discovering God’s Story – A Discipleship Journey Through the Torah takes readers through Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, helping them see the foundation upon which the rest of the biblical narrative is built.
The journey begins with creation, humanity’s purpose, Eden, and the fracture that changes the course of the story. It follows the promise of restoration through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the formation of Israel, deliverance from Egypt, covenant at Sinai, the Tabernacle, sacrifice and priesthood, holiness, wilderness testing, and Israel’s preparation to enter the promised land.
Along the way, themes that will shape the rest of Scripture begin to emerge: covenant, seed, redemption, Passover, sacrifice, priesthood, Yahweh dwelling among His people, blessing and curse, exile and restoration, the condition of the human heart, and the promise of a Prophet like Moses.
The workbook does more than summarize these events. Readers are invited to look closely at the text, trace developing themes, consider what Yahweh is revealing, and ask how covenant life is meant to shape a people living together under His rule.
By the end of Deuteronomy, the foundation has been laid, but the story is far from finished. Israel stands at the edge of the land, the heart problem remains unresolved, restoration has been promised, and the coming Prophet is still awaited.
The Torah gives us the foundation. This workbook helps us learn how to see everything that will be built upon it.
